Scent Class  *NEW*

On the surface, your dog’s nose may look wet, wriggling, and cute. But your pup’s nose is actually a powerful organ that guides him through his days in pretty impressive ways! They have up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, versus only about 6 million for us. And the part of their brain dedicated to interpreting these is about 40 times larger than ours. It makes sense, then, that employing the dog’s nose is a great way to engage his brain!

Scent Class is a great opportunity for dogs to use their natural instincts and develop skills along with building deeper bonds with owners. Dogs can also discern individual odors making up what we would call “scent.”. In this beginner scent class we will start by teaching them to search and locate an essential oil (birch).

Benefits of Scent Class
● Dogs easily burn lots of mental & physical energy doing searches
● Provides much needed mental enrichment for any dog
● No prior training is required and no obedience is needed
● Shy or fearful dogs build confidence and overactive dogs put their energy into fun searches
● Stronger bond between dog & handler as handlers learns to observe, understand, and rely upon their dogs
● Enrichment helps to prevent and resolve behavioral problems

Dogs must be current with Rabies, DHPP, and Kennel Cough vaccines, and need to be at least 6 months of age or older.
